To be totally honest I see more people’s businesses fail than succeed. With every single business that I watch fall off, there is one common denominator. This is TIME. It seems that people don’t have any of it and it’s one of the main ingredients to creating a successful business. I’ve literally watch people try to put together a whole company in two weeks. I get calls like “I need a website. Can I get it done by tomorrow?” Of course I say no, but once we get started on the build, I see they don’t really have the information they need to even go on the site. My whole thought is “what’s the rush?”!!!!! Today I will break down for you how time can either be your friend or your enemy.
Building a business that last takes TIME!
It takes more that 2 weeks to build a lasting business. If you are building your business correctly, then your first step is writing your business plan. The financial forecast of the the business plan takes 3-5 days to write out on it’s own. Many people skip that part thinking they have everything mapped out in their head, when really they are just setting themselves up to be reactive instead of proactive. Take your time and build something that will last.
It takes TIME to build a brand!
Everyone is not going to know you have a business just because you have a website. Everyone is not going to buy from you just because you have a business. It takes time to build a brand people can trust. Many times when building a site I’ll ask for the client’s logo, slogan, values etc. Often times I’m met with “Oh I don’t have all that”. The only thing they have is their product and they think that’s suppose to sell itself. You have to build a brand, or a reputation, people can trust. Trust isn’t earned in a day, its earned over time. So if you don’t have the time to build your brand, then you don’t have time to win!
TIME will not wait for you!
If God has given you a business or a project to go after, dragging your feet to get it done will not help. When I hand out task for my team, I give them deadlines to get it done. If they don’t have it done by the deadline, I will take over myself and let that person know, they are no longer needed. Once you drop the ball on starting your business or moving your business to the next level because of a lack of time, then you run the risk of losing everything. The scary part is what may happen if God says you are no longer needed.
Make the best of the TIME you have!
The only time that we know we have is the moment in which we currently exist. Tomorrow is but a mist. It’s a dream. It’s not real. What is real is your NOW. Stop putting things off until “tomorrow”. Work right now as if tomorrow will never come. Cut down your time on social media and focus more on building a successful business. If you can read a status, you can read books that will help elevate you to the next level. If you have time for the club, then you have time to go to networking event to actually meet people that can help you thrive in life.
Understand what your TIME is worth!
Many of us waist our time on the wrong people or doing the wrong thing. When you put a value on your time a lot of the BS disappears. Your time is valuable. Once its gone you can’t get that back. As a business owner you have to protect every second of every minute you have. Put a price value on your time and don’t let anyone take any of it for FREE. Here is a great article on calculating the value of your time. Learn what to charge people if they want to hire you.
