Watching the Antonio Brown saga unfold has been somewhat entertaining. While some of us have been quietly watching, others have been very vocal and have surmised … “that nigga crazy”. Maybe so. Maybe he is crazy. Maybe he is a genius in a diabolical way. Or maybe, just maybe he’s in trouble and his current antics are just a way to regain some type of control over a life so many want to access. I found myself confused like so many others once I found out about his sexual assault allegations. Why doesn’t he have any criminal charges against him. This is civil. This is about money. The questions poured in.
Who is this woman? Britney Taylor
What did she say he did? Sexually Assaulted her on 3 different occasions
Why now? It’s been going on but no resolution was reached so she filed a civil suit. The timing is coincidental.
How much does she want? Allegedly $2 million
Immediately, since this is a civil case, not many people are ready to believe her. Number one question is why didn’t she go to the police. And that is a question that hasn’t been answered. In our culture, or perhaps in our world, you have to have some balls (figuratively and literally) when it comes to accusing a man of sexual assault. It seems as though you don’t need as much proof to prove murder as you do to prove rape. And our questions aren’t posed to the man. Nope. It’s for the female. Like how did this happen 3 times? Or why is this not criminal?
Once those questions aren’t answered to our liking, then judgement in the public opinion are formed. She’s lying. She just wants money. The same people who were calling Antonio Brown crazy just can’t seem to wrap their minds around him being crazy enough to sexually assault a woman. Many of your thoughts are justified because we’ve seen plenty times woman just go for the pockets of powerful men. However, I’d like to introduce a growing trend in our judicial system that many are unfamiliar with. This is called “sue first, charge later”.
Step 1 – Threaten to sue for an astronomical amount of money that you know he’s not going to pay you.
Step 2 – File civil suit.
Step 3 – Depose the accused and ask allllllll the questions you can. You can ask anyone anything in depositions. If the accused pleads the 5th majority of the time, it can affect the final verdict in the accuser’s favor.
Step 4 – Go through the civil trial.
Step 5 – Whether win or lose, by now you should have the evidence you were looking for against the accused. Prosecutors can use those depositions to finally file official criminal charges.
Many men have gotten caught up criminally because of what happened in a civil suit. There are no “objection your honor” in civil depositions. If you are found to be lying at any point you have pretty much lost your money. So, how crazy and money hungry does Britney seem now?
Maybe Britney Taylor doesn’t have the proof she needs for a successful criminal case. Perhaps the way she’ll finally get her proof is to put Mr. Brown through a deposition where he has to answer any and all questions her lawyer has for him. My theory is plausible.
Think about. Most women don’t even want their names mentioned. They want their privacy protected because they want to avoid the backlash of public opinion. Not Ms. Taylor. No, she’s been vocal. She’s told us all who she is. And a woman who does that is unashamed. She has a plan. She understands the public outrage is part of the plan, but she’s sure that either she’s going to get $2 million or Mr. Brown is going to jail….if not both.
My theory may or may not be true. But I’m going to lean towards true. I’m going to watch how this unfolds. And if I’m right, remember where you heard it first. Be sure to tell your friends DFitz predicted this. Remember to include I was right.
